Very long shutter speeds are used to intentionally blur a moving subject for effect. Short exposure times are sometimes called "fast", and long exposure times "slow". Adjustments to the aperture need to be compensated by changes of the shutter speed to keep the same (right) exposure.
Most modern DSLRs and mirrorless cameras can handle shutter speeds of up to 1/4000th of a second, while some can handle much quicker speeds of 1/8000th of a second and faster. On the other hand, the longest available shutter speed on most DSLRs or mirrorless cameras is typically 30 seconds.
These are the pictures we took during the lesson. Personally, I think the pictures I took where good because they show a clear representation of shutter speed.
